Malcolm Charles Barber (nascido em 4 de março de 1943) é um medievalista britânico. Ele é considerado o maior especialista vivo do mundo sobre os Cavaleiros Templários. É considerado o autor dos dois livros mais abrangentes sobre o assunto: The Trial of the Templars (1978) e The New Knighthood: A History of the Order of the Temple (1994). Ele foi editor do The Journal of Medieval History e escreveu muitos artigos sobre os Templários, os Cátaros, vários aspectos das Cruzadas e o reinado de Filipe IV da França.
Biografia Nascido em 1943, Barber frequentou a Walpole Grammar School em Ealing de 1954 a 1961, seguido pela Universidade de Nottingham de 1961 a 1966, onde recebeu seu diploma de primeira classe em 1964. Seus estudos de pós-graduação foram sob a orientação de Bernard Hamilton na área de grão-mestres dos Templários. Barber frequentou a Escola Britânica em Roma de 1965 a 1966, e então foi nomeado professor assistente na Universidade de Reading em 1966. Ele recebeu seu doutorado em 1968 pela Universidade de Nottingham. Barber foi professor de História Medieval Europeia na Faculdade de Artes e Humanidades da Universidade de Reading, no Reino Unido, até sua aposentadoria em setembro de 2004.
